​Welcome to OPE电子竞技官网 Veterans and Military Resource Center (VMRC)

The VMRC  is a dedicated space that serves as the hub of support for our military-connected students.  VMRC services and resources are available for active duty, Guard and Reserves, separated, Veterans, and their family members without regard to VA or DoD education benefits use.

The center serves as a liaison with other school functions and teams with VA, DoD, State and community resources to help empower our students to achive success at OPE电子竞技官网 and in meeting life and career goals.

The VMRC is located at OPE电子竞技官网's South Omaha Campus, Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) Bldg, Room 101. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Fall term EVENTS  -- events hosted in VMRC (Unless noted)

  • University of Nebraska-Omaha AFROTC Presentation.  Wednesday, September 25, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.  ROTC is a program offered at colleges and universities that prepares students to become officers.  Learn more about UNO’s program and ask questions.
  • Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) Program Presentation.  Thursday, October 3, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.  Part of the Small Business Administration, the VBOC provides resources and assistance to Veterans, service members, and military spouses interested in starting or growing a small business.  VBOC can also help Veterans using VA CH 31 for the purpose of starting a business. 
  • VA Resource Fair.  Thursday, October 17, 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. At this “drop-in” event learn about resources and services available at the Omaha Veterans Center.  Meet an outreach specialist from the VA hospital to learn about available healthcare services.  Talk with our VA Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Counselor and learn about resources available to help military-connected students succeed at school.

  • Nursing Program Information Session.  Wednesday, October 23, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.  Learn about OPE电子竞技官网’s nursing programs including prerequisites, selection criteria, and course requirements.  Meet with faculty members and advisors and learn first-hand from fellow student Veterans who are currently in the nursing program.  Attendees should register by emailing VeteransCenter@mcceneb.edu or 531-622-4770.
  • Guitars for Veterans (G4V) Presentation and Student Veterans Organization (SVO) Fall Term Meeting.  Thursday, October 31, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.  Get an update from the SVO and learn about team building events while connecting with other student Veterans.  Also meet with Jim Hoy, G4V Bellevue Chapter and Army Veteran and learn how G4V is helping Veterans with PTSD and other emotional distresses through the healing process.   
  • OPE电子竞技官网 Veterans Day Celebration.  Thursday, November 7, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  South Omaha Campus, Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) Building, Room 120.   Join OPE电子竞技官网 as we celebrate our Veterans.  Reception follows.  Event open to the public.  Questions, contact the VMRC at VeteransCenter@5675n.com or call 531-622-4770.
  •  Nebraska (Bellevue) Veterans Parade.  Saturday, November 9, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  OPE电子竞技官网 will participate in this year’s parade.  If you would like to join OPE电子竞技官网, please contact the VMRC at VeteransCenter@5675n.com or call 531-622-4770.  Parade takes place in downtown Bellevue NE.

Getting Started

If you have questions or need assistance, the VMRC staff can walk you through the OPE电子竞技官网 application process. It is free to apply and completing an application does not obligate you to attend at OPE电子竞技官网. To apply for admission go to Apply. NOTE: Students who have not attended OPE电子竞技官网 in the past two years will also need to complete an application. We can provide basic information about OPE电子竞技官网 academic programs and POC information.

Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Program

OPE电子竞技官网's Veterans & Military Resource Center (VMRC) is proud to announce the addition of Heather Bojanski as a member of its extended support staff. Heather works for the VA and serves as our Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership or VITAL Counselor.

The VITAL program is a collaborative effort between the school, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and state and local agencies to ensure our student Veterans, military and family members get the tools they need to succeed.  In addition to serving as a trusted counselor and advocate for students, other actions Heather can help with include:

  • Assistance with VA health care enrollment and information updates
  • VA Vocational Rehabilitation—referral and coordination
  • Coordination of VA health care services
  • Veteran health care appointment scheduling
  • Liaison with VA health care providers and VBA personnel
  • Referrals to on-campus and state, county, and local services for Veterans
  • Consultation and support regarding issues impacting academic performance and retention

Student Veterans Organization

OPE电子竞技官网 Student Veterans Organization (SVO) is a charter member of Student Veterans of America. The SVO is student-driven and provides opportunities to develop leadership and to network and support fellow Veterans in academic, community and social settings. To learn more about the SVO, contact the VMRC at VeteransCenter@5675n.com or 531-622- 4770. Learn more about the SVA.  The next SVO meeting will be during the winter term.

Veterans and Service Members Graduation Recognition

In order to recognize its Veteran and military students, OPE电子竞技官网 is proud to present eligible graduates with a red, white and blue honor cord. Eligible students can pick up their honor cords when checking in for the graduation ceremony. In addition to the honor cord, students’ Veteran or military status will be recognized during the ceremony. If not attending the graduation ceremony, students can stop by the Veterans and Military Resource Center to obtain an honor cord.
